It started yesterday. The mirror started getting lazy. The reflection started moving half a second too late. Today, the reflection smiled first.

Tess frowned. So did her reflection. But the reflection seemed angrier. Tess leaned in to the mirror, studying all she could. Her reflection rolled her eyes and grabbed her upper arms. She pulled Tess into the mirror.

Tess was too surprised to fight. She fell on the tile bathroom floor. Well, the other bathroom floor. Everything was the same, just in the opposite place, as she expected it would be.

“What was that about?” Tess demanded. “Why would you bring me into this mirror world?”

“You think I got lazy?” Reflection Tess looked disappointed. “That’s why I stopped copying you?”

“I don’t-“

“Never mind.” Reflection Tess picked up her bag, and motioned for Tess to follow.

“I am not going anywhere with you.” Tess sat stubbornly on the toilet.

“Then we can’t save your world.” Reflection Tess told her.

Tess heard sirens. She heard gunfire. She heard explosions that she had been deaf to a moment ago.

“What did you say?” Tess swallowed.

“Stay here and die.” Reflection Tess said. “Or come with me, and help me stop this from destroying your world. And mine.”
